Ultra defensive Angola frustrated Bafana Bafana, says Da Gama

South Africa stand-in coach Owen Da Gama was left frustrated by the Angola's defensive tactics at the Buffalo City Stadium on Tuesday night.

Bafana Bafana were held to a goalless draw by the Palancas Negras in an international friendly match in East London on Tuesday night.

Angola, who are coached by Brazilian tactician Beto Bianchi, employed a defensive approach which frustrated the home team.

"Look, we had to look at all the players. More players had to be given an opportunity," Da Gama told the media after the game.

"Unfortunately, they were ultra defensive. They were defending with six defenders at any given time tonight," he continued.

"Obviously, they knew the type of football that we play and they just depended on the counter attack. They were just too defensive," Da Gama added.

"We gave the youngsters a chance and in the second-half - we dominated after taking control of the match. But we could not get that one goal," he concluded.

South Africa and Angola are scheduled to participate in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers in June 2017.
