Selangor have finally submitted their full squad list for the first half of 2017 Malaysia Super League, but not without a few surprises.

The Red Giants, who started the season with only two foreign players in their squad, have included two new import players in their final squad list.

The players are Romanian striker Victor Astafei and Brazilian midfielder Juliano Mineiro, reportedly signed only until June. Mineiro is considered as Asian import, as he has a Timor Leste citizenship.

The arrival of the two imports means that there is no place for Indonesian Andik Vermansah, who is reportedly still suffering from an injury he picked up while playing for Indonesia in the AFF Suzuki Cup last year. The Red Giants however have assured their fans that Andik, who still has a contract with the team until the end of this season, will be registered in the squad again in the June transfer window once he fully recovers and is fit.

Meanwhile, earlier this week Selangor have also signed a player from the semi-pro social leagues. 31-year old defender Fairuz Abdul Aziz however had played for the Red Giants in two different stints.

Melaka also made a surprise last-minute change in the squad, as they have ended the contract of midfielder Omid Nazari, who has yet to make a competitive appearance for the Mousedeers ever since he was signed earlier in the pre-season.

Melaka United have confirmed that the reason they terminated Nazari’s contract is because the player has struggled to get back to fitness after suffering from food poisoning.

The 2016 Premier League champion have announced that South Korean midfielder Jeon Woo-Young will replace Omid Nazari’s spot. The 29-year-old has joined Melaka from Jeongnam Dragons.
