Paris Saint-Germain confirmed they'll take action against the striker for missing training but would be willing to sell if an agreement can be found

Monday saw a number of developments in the ongoing transfer saga involving Neymar and a potential move away from Paris Saint-Germain.

The Ligue 1 champions announced that the 27-year-old striker had failed to report for pre-season training as planned and they'd be taking "appropriate action".

In response, Neymar Sr, the player's father, insisted that the Brazilian international had informed PSG of his commitments elsewhere and they'd been agreed in advance.

The club's new Sporting Director Leonardo then answered a number of questions regarding the situation in an interview with Le Parisien.

"Neymar can leave the PSG, if there is an offer that suits everyone. But to date, we do not know if anyone wants to buy it or at what price," Leonardo said.

The PSG man explained that initial talks had been held between the French club and the Catalan giants, but he believed Barca were "not really in a buyer position".

Despite that, 888Sport now make Neymar 7/10 (1.70) to complete summer move back to Camp Nou in their latest transfer betting odds.

Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu had previously stated that PSG didn't want to sell the world's most expensive player but Leonardo's comments have changed the landscape significantly, especially in light of further trouble brewing between the player and PSG.

While the odds have shifted in favour of a move away, the monumental money involved in such a deal means Neymar is still Even money (2.0) to still be a PSG player on September 3, when the European transfer market closes.

The biggest mover in the market though, was Real Madrid. Having been 20/1 (21.0) earlier in the day Los Blancos have been cut to just 5/1 (6.0).

While a return to Barcelona seems the most likely route out of Paris, the bookmakers are on high alert for a potential switch to their Clasico rivals who have already been busy in the transfer market this summer.

Manchester United are also listed at 14/1 (15.0) but with English clubs only having until August 8 to complete their business, a move to Old Trafford seems unlikely given the ongoing saga is likely to contain plenty more instalments before reaching a conclusion.
