The Covert Agent: Nathaniel Atkinson close to joining Perth Glory's Asian assault

Melbourne City utility Nathaniel Atkinson is set to join Tony Popovic's Perth Glory revolution as the club prepares for an assault on the Asian Champions League.

The Covert Agent can reveal the 19-year-old will likely make the move to Western Australia with Popovic planning to use him as a versatile squad player for a number of roles.

It was reported on Wednesday by The Covert Agent that City were on the verge of signing Adelaide United's defender Scott Galloway to play at right-back - a position that Atkinson has frequented this season.

After the stunning swoop on Bruno Fornaroli and re-signing of Diego Castro, Glory are fast running out of salary cap space - and the signing of Atkinson won't put too much stress on their finances.

It's understood a Perth move for outgoing Wanderers midfielder Roly Bonevacia is unlikely because of wage budget pressures.
