Melbourne Victory will re-sign Kevin Muscat as coach imminently after months of speculation about his future.
The Covert Agent can reveal the news was leaked during Victory's 1-0 win over Kawasaki Frontale in the Asian Champions League on Tuesday night.
It's understood the extension is likely to be for the next two seasons and could be announced as soon as Thursday.
Muscat was due to come out of contract at the end of the campaign but Victory were always keen to appoint the man who has led the club to three championships as a captain and manager.
Media speculation had grown about Muscat's future at the club after Victory began this season with seven games without a win - and also suffered a four-match winless period through January and February.
Victory sit fourth on the A-League table one point behind rivals Melbourne City.
