The new coach has made his ambitions clear

Graham Arnold is yet to oversee a game in his second stint in charge of the Socceroos, but the Australian coach has already made his ambitions clear.

With an Asian Cup defence less than six months away, Arnold revealed that rather than change what managers before him have done with the national team, he wants to build upon it.

While the Socceroos have struggled for consistency, the new coach isn't too concerned and is aiming to build the best Socceroos side ever.

"We've removed the word 'change' here," Arnold said.

"We're just adding. We're adding layers on top of what the past has been, to make us the greatest Socceroos team there has ever been.

"It's been great to get back on the pitch with the players, to start driving the principles into the players that we want them to do.

"The most important thing for me with this camp was to get the connection with the players.

"It's hard for me to single out any one player that's stood out. The energy and intensity of the training sessions and the togetherness has impressed me."

Arnold has been overseeing a training camp in Turkey with a youthful 30-man Socceroos side out to impress ahead of friendlies in November.

Daniel Arzani is one of three teenagers Arnold's currently monitoring in Turkey with the new coach eager to keep close tabs on him.

"Young Daniel is in great shape. He's looked excellent in training," he said.

"I will be in Scotland next Wednesday or Thursday. I'm meeting Brendan Rodgers and probably will find out more. I do know Celtic rate him very, very highly.

"The kid has only been there two weeks and needs a little bit of time to let him settle. I'm sure the plans Celtic have will be great for him."
