Mount also helped Derby defeat Manchester United in the Carabao Cup to set up a tie with Chelsea in the last 16, which they lost 3-2 on Wednesday.

The 19-year-old played the entirely of the match against his parent club and afterwards revealed he is aiming to play for Maurizio Sarri's side in 2019/20.

He told ESPN FC: "I want to be here next season. That's my goal.

"I want to come back and play for Chelsea, but at this moment I'm at Derby and I'm loving it, so that's where my focus is."

Mount has enjoyed a remarkable rise in recent months, having also spent the 2017/18 campaign on loan with Eredvisie outfit Vitesse Arnhem.

Reflecting on a whirlwind few months, he added: "This season so far has been unbelievable.

"To be called up to England, to play at Old Trafford and then to come and play at the Bridge, there's so much experience I can take away. I'm loving it at Derby at the moment.

"We're playing some unbelievable football and the team is so close, we're like a family. That makes it even better.

"This season has been a step up and it's been harder, but I've learned so much."

Chelsea return to action against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday, while Derby and Mount entertain Birmingham City in the Championship on Saturday.
