Ethiopian club St. Georges are set to appoint former AFC Leopards trainer Stewart Hall as head coach, Goal can exclusively reveal.

This follows the decision by the Addis Ababa-based club's executive to fire Portuguese Carlos Manuel Vaz Pinto on Friday night following a string of poor results.

Pinto was dismissed after failing to secure continental football for the club for the first time in four years. “Yes it is him (Hall), he will be joining the team next week," a source privy to negotiations told Goal in confidence.

Currently based in Bangladesh where he's enjoyed a 15-match unbeaten streak and won two titles at top flight Saif Sporting Club, this impending appointment marks a return to Africa for Hall, who briefly worked at English Championship side Birmingham's youth academy.

His first stint in East Africa enabled him win the league and Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup with Tanzanian club Azam. He also managed the Zanzibar national team and Tanzania's youth team, before joining AFC Leopards for a six-month stint.

At Leopards the English coach is credited with nurturing the likes of Duncan Otieno and Whyvonee Isuza. Hall is set to now work with Kenya one keeper Patrick Matasi, who signed for St. Georges earlier this month.
