Star Plus’ Anistar Izuikem unfazed about his team's loss to Enugu Rangers

FC Star Plus head coach Anistar Izuikem says he is unconcerned by his team’s defeat to Enugu Rangers in the final of the Enugu FA Cup.

The final was played at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu and the Flying Antelopes thumped the non-league side 4-1, but Izuikem says he is not ashamed by the result because his side are content with qualifying for the final and getting to represent the state at the national finals.

He praised his players for playing to instructions against Enugu Rangers, and promised to have them well-prepared to compete at national level.

“As far as am concerned, we played our final against Giant Brillars in the semifinal because our aim was to qualify for the national Federation Cup competition and which we did,” Izuikem told the media.

“Remember I told you after our match against Crime Busters FC that we must win our semifinal match to reach the national finals. We are going to prepare well and correct the lapses we discovered against Rangers so that we can do well at the national level.

“I must admit that my boys played to instructions but they met a stronger opposition and it was as if they got nothing right. They will get better before the start of the national Federation Cup. We won’t just make up the numbers. We are in the competition to compete.”

Enugu Rangers' goals were netted by Issif Traore, Bright Silas, Ousmane Zeidine and Pascal Seka, while Ekezie Chinweike scored a late consolation from the penalty spot.
