Gor Mahia failed to secure their place in the quarter-finals of Caf Confederation Cup after falling 2-1 to a brave Rayon Sports side on Sunday.
The Kenyan champions were in need of a draw to secure their place in the last sixteen but were shocked to go behind in the second minute when Bimenyimana guided the ball past keeper Shaban Odhoji.
K’Ogalo responded with an equalizer from Burundian forward Francis Mustapha but once again Rayon Sports defender Erick Rutanga, curled in a beautiful free-kick for the winning goal.
Not even the introduction of Samuel Onyango and Bernard Ondiek could help the home team from falling. However, Gor Mahia can take heart from the result posted in Tanzania where Yanga SC, against all odds, defeated USM Alger 2-1.
A number of Kenyans have reacted to the outcome of the match.
Someone is determined to kill Gor Mahia completely. The players are fatigued as they play almost every other day. Whoever is behind this crazy schedule will completely destroy K’Ogalo.— Robert ALAI, HSC (@RobertAlai) August 19, 2018

Not his fault.....We did enough stories questioning the ten matches of August. KPL were adamant, league must end in October. We messed Gor Mahia as football stakeholders....
I hope @TheOfficialKPL are happy now with that performance and result, where in the normal do you play 6 matches in 15 days (1st-16th August) just before what is arguably GOR MAHIA's biggest match in 30 years. Was just a matter of time before everything came crumbling down.— GOR MAHIA (@GormahiaLive) August 19, 2018
#CAFCC FT Gor Mahia 1-2 Rayon Sport; Yanga 2-1 USM Alger. Qualification for the quarters goes down to the last match where Gor play USM Alger away on 29th Aug. Both teams currently on 8 points; Rayon on 6 and Yanga on 4 #Sirkal #TheScoreKE— Carol Radull (@CarolRadull) August 19, 2018
This must be the worst performance from Gor Mahia this season. Forget the goals conceded, their overall performance is appalling.— Ole Teya (@Kevin_teya) August 19, 2018

Again Two more matches before the return leg against USM Alger in a weeks time as if it wasn't enough already, this isnt making excuses but it is what it is, the players are tired and it showed today. Thats the worst game we have played this year.— GOR MAHIA (@GormahiaLive) August 19, 2018
FT Gor Mahia 1-2 Rayon Sports.— Cellestine Rebecca (@cellie_beckie) August 19, 2018
Quite an uncharacteristic performance from Gor but then again, when you play as many games as they have within the last two months you've got to struggle a lil I guess. #CAFCC #TotalCAFCC
Its full time at Kasarani stadium and the final score is Rayon Sport 2-1 Gor Mahia. Rayon goes back to Kigali with 3 points in the bag. What a game⚽️⚽️— Kim Kamasa (@KimKamasa) August 19, 2018
