Napoli ran the Old Lady close last season, but Turin outfit continue to have things their own way

There are just less than three weeks to go until Italy’s Serie A – the top division in Italian club football – kicks off, and there is one pertinent question on everyone’s lips. Can anyone knock Juventus off their perch at the top of Italy’s domestic tree?

Juventus have now won the league title for seven successive seasons, and they look strong going into the new campaign. There closest competitors will feel that the gap has closed following the previous campaign, however.

First things first

Before you go any further, head on over to the Oddsshark website, find your favourite betting agency and get your account up and running using your credit card. As a new customer and with the Italian football season just a few short weeks away from kick off, there should be a whole host of promotions and offers for you to take advantage of.

Where should I be investing my money?

The logical, and short, answer to that question would be Juventus. Following their dominance on the domestic scene over recent years, the Turin based outfit are at just 1.40 to win the title again this season.

The club won the league by four points ahead of Napoli last season, winning 30 of their 38 games, scoring 86 goals at well over two goals per game and conceding just 24. In addition, they have added even more firepower this season in the form of former Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese forward is the outright favourite to finish the Serie A season as the top scorer, and you can back him at a price of just 1.61 to do so. Argentine forward Gonzalo Higuain, who netted 16 times last season, is at 11.00 to finish the campaign as the league’s top scorer, according to Oddsshark.

Once again, Napoli will be doing their utmost to wrest the title away from Juventus’ grasp. The Neapolitan club finished just four points off the top last season and won plaudits for their bold, attractive style of football.

However, coach Maurizio Sarri and key midfielder Jorginho have both since departed for Premier League club Chelsea, and you can back Napoli at 8.00 to win the Serie A title this season. New coach Carlo Ancelotti has plenty of experience however and has enjoyed success in Italy previously with AC Milan.

Napoli open their campaign in Rome away to Lazio, who finished fifth last season. And it is the visitors who come into the game as the favourites to take three points at a price of 2.37, with Lazio out at 3.00 to make a winning start to the league season.

Another team at 8.00 to win the league is AS Roma, who finished in third last time out. The club won over half their games and conceded at less than a goal a game, and if the Roman club are to maintain a sustained title challenge a lot will rely on the goal scoring form of Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko.

The 32-year-old has scored a combined total of 45 goals across the past two Serie A campaigns and if he can hit the ground running once again the Roma have the capabilities to fight for the title. Dzeko is priced competitively at 17.00 to finish the season as top goal scorer and, given his form, it could well be worth a bet – an investment of just US$5 could lead to a potential US$85 pay out, not to mention a second Serie A title for Roma this century.

And Inter Milan look to be in with a greater chance than the previous half a decade. Last season, Inter finished a massive 23 points off the top of the table, but a series of heavy investments could well work out in their favour.

To partner Mauro Icardi in attack, the Milan based outfit have also brought in Racing forward Lautaro Martinez, one of the hottest prospects in world football right now. In addition, Belgian creative playmaker Radja Nainggolan has joined from Roma, giving Inter a far more dangerous look.

The club, just like Napoli and Roma, are at 8.00 to win the title this season and, just like Roma, much will depend on their star striker – in this case, Icardi. The Argentine striker is at just 7.00 to finish as the season’s top scorer, while the club are at just 1.44 to finish in the top four.
