Serbia missed out on the 2014 World Cup in Brazil but will be out to surprise this time around despite being handed a tough draw.
The former Yugoslavian nation are in Group E with Brazil, Costa Rica and Switzerland, meaning they are far from favourites to make the knockout stages.
2018 World Cup Qualification
Although they didn't confirm their place in Russia until the final match, Serbia's qualification was rather more straightforward than that.
They won five of their first eight matches and while Austria handed the Eagles their only defeat in the penultimate matchday, a nervy 1-0 win over Georgia three days later meant they topped UEFA Group D.
GettyAleksandar Mitrovic's six goals were the most of anyone in the group, whilst Southampton midfielder Dusan Tadic also chipped in with four goals.
Tournament History
Serbia have finished fourth at the World Cup twice, although both those returns came whilst the country was still part - and thus competed as - Yugoslavia.
Their sole tournament as Serbia and Montenegro ended with three losses as they flew home almost as soon as they had landed in Germany.
A win over the Germans in 2010 was the highlight of another otherwise miserable tournament, where the Eagles lost to both Ghana and Australia.
