Ghanaian and Sirius FC midfielder Kingsley Sarfo has been adjudged as Swedish Superettan Most Valuable Player of the Season, the league organising body have announced.

The 21-year-old picks the award for the first time in his three years in Sweden, having joined Sirius from Golden Boot Academy in 2013. He has helped Sirius to win promotion to the top-flight ahead of the new season.

In 29  appearances in the previous campaign, Sarfo netted once and made seven assists. He anticipates an improved career in his maiden season in the Allsvenskan.

"Last season began on a bad note for us but we tried our best to change several things and ended up qualifying to play in the top-flight next season. I'm really happy that I won the overall best player and promise to continue to improve," Sarfo told Goal.

"The journey hasn't been easy but with perseverance, I can see positives in my maiden season in the top-flight. I thank my coaches and teammates for their support because without them, I wouldn't have won the award.

"There have been several offers after we gained the qualification and it is a sign that if I am consistent with my performance, I may even earn a call-up to play for the Black Stars in the near future," he added.

Goal understand that Sirius will tour Spain in the first week of February as part of their pre-season schedules ahead of the 2017 Allsvenskan which kicks off in March.
