Porto’s Vincent Aboubakar undergoes successful surgery

Porto’s striker Vincent Aboubakar has undergone a successful surgery to his knee injury.

The forward was forced off in their 1-0 victory over Tondela in Friday’s Primeira Liga game after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee.

On Sunday, the Portuguese champions confirmed the operation on the former Besiktas player and will be expected to start his rehabilitation process immediately after being discharged.

“Vincent Aboubakar was operated on by Professor José Carlos Noronha's team, following a complete rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament and internal lateral ligament of the left knee," read a statement on the club website.

"The surgery was successful and the forward will be discharged in the coming days to start his rehabilitation process,

Prior to the injury, the attacker has scored four goals in six league appearances this season.

Although, uncertain how long the forward will spend on the sidelines, he is set for a lengthy spell.
