'Pogba thinks more about arguing with Mourinho than football' - Moggi doubts Juventus return

Unsettled Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has been accused by former Juventus managing director Luciano Moggi of thinking “more about arguing with Jose Mourinho than playing”.

The professional relationship between two outspoken figures at Old Trafford has been deteriorating for some time now.

Both men have aired their grievances in public, with Pogba’s questioning of United’s tactics leading to him being stripped of a vice-captaincy role with the Red Devils.

Issues such as that have sparked talk of an imminent parting of ways, with it suggested that Juventus could be prepared to welcome a former favourite back onto their books.

Moggi is not convinced that would be the case, with Pogba – like fellow reported target, Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic – currently enduring struggles which make a deal unlikely.

He told Calciomercato: “Pogba and Milinkovic-Savic? It is too early to talk about the summer because that is so far away, and certainly Juventus will not do any business in January. 

“Both would work with [Massimiliano] Allegri’s tactics, even if the Serbian wouldn’t serve the Bianconeri quite so well at the moment because he is not the champion that made such a difference like last year.

“The same goes for Pogba, who thinks more about arguing with Mourinho in Manchester than playing.”

While doubting that more superstars will be sought in the near future, Moggi is delighted to have seen one arrive in Turin over the summer.

Juve pulled off quite the coup when luring Cristiano Ronaldo away from Real Madrid in a €100 million (£89m/$115m) deal.

The Portuguese forward has overcome a slow start in Italy to make the impact expected of him, with his qualities and insatiable desire to be the best considered to have made the Bianconeri even stronger than they have been in winning seven successive Serie A titles.

Moggi added: “The club could not have done better in the last transfer market.

“A group that has been winning for seven years has added Ronaldo, who is the best player available and, despite all of his success, has never lost his motivation. Every time he takes to the field he is more hungry than before.”

Ronaldo has managed three goals in eight appearances for Juve, but he will be serving a suspension when they return to action on Tuesday against Young Boys in Champions League competition.
