Orlando Pirates duo Reanetse Ramatlapeng and Thobela Sikhakhane have competed their loan moves to new National First Division (NFD) club, TS Sporting.
The two promising players were some of Pirates’ key players in the Premier Soccer League (PSL)’s reserve league, Multichoice Diski Challenge (MDC) last season.
Their exploits attracted interest from Sporting, who were promoted to the second tier of South African football after finishing second in the recent 2017/18 ABC Motsepe promotional playoffs.
Sporting club boss Slungu Thobela confirmed that they had reinforced their squad with the signing of the two Bucs players as they prepared for their first season in the NFD.
“We are happy to welcome these two boys to the club we are very confident that they will help us in the upcoming season,” he said on the Bucs' official website.
Ramatlapeng joined Pirates development set-up 12 months ago following a successful trial stint at last year’s Pirates Cup competition.
His team-mate Sikhakhane arrived at the Soweto giants in 2016 when the young striker was spotted in a tournament held in his home town KwaZulu-Natal.
The marksman moved to Pirates along with Brian Hlongwa and Sandile Mthethwa.
Ramatlapeng, who is a central midfielder by trade, is pleased to have been given an opportunity to play first team football.
“I am grateful for the opportunity granted to me by both clubs - it means a lot to me and my career,” Ramatlapeng said.
“The NFD is very competitive, this is going to help me gain more experience and elevate my aspirations of becoming a professional player for Orlando Pirates senior team,” he concluded.
Sporting are owned by Mbombela-based attorney Thobela, who recently stated that they are in a process of making Kabokweni Stadium their home stadium for the 2018/19 season.
They have joined their provisional rivals Mbombela United and Witbank Spurs in the NFD.
