Odemwingie at the double as Madura United defeat Persib Bandung

Peter Odemwingie scored his third brace for Madura United when he helped them to a 3-1 win over Persib Bandung in the Indonesian Liga 1 on Sunday.

Madura United secured their seventh win in 13 outings and moved to the peak of the log standings, three goals above closest challenger PSM Makassar.

Odemwingie drew in the first blood from the penalty spot in the 21st minute after Greg Nwokolo was brought down in the opponent’s penalty area.

He completed his brace in the 66th minute and when it looked like Raphael Maitimo’s goal would launch a comeback for the visitors, Nwokolo powered in the third few minutes away from full time.

The 35-year-old has now scored 12 goals in 13 games for Gomes de Olivera’s men in his first season in Indonesia.
