NSL: FKF confirm criteria to fill Palos FC slot

The FKF NSL 2018 season kicks-off on February 10 with a total of 20 teams up from 19 teams last season

Towards the end of last year, Palos FC from the Lakeside City of Kisumu, issued a notice to Football Kenya Federation on their intentions to pull out of NSL 2018 season.

FKF Leagues and Competitions Manager Frank Ogolla has confirmed the exclusion of Palos from the fixtures this season and said federation will give directions on the criteria for replacement.

“Palos FC communicated their withdrawal from the league for the upcoming season, the leagues and competitions shall give directions on how the slot shall be filled,” read part of the circular to clubs by Ogolla and obtained by Goal.

Palos FC in their letter dated October 17, 2017, officially communicated to the federation’s secretariat on their decision to withdraw from the FKF NSL 2018 season due to financial constrains.

While acknowledging the letter, FKF CEO Robert Muthomi thanked Palos for their valuable contribution to the growth of the beautiful game. “FKF appreciates the contribution and the role you and your team has played in the growth and development of football in Nyanza region and the entire country as a whole since its inception since 2013.”

Meanwhile, the FKF NSL 2018 season kicks-off on February 10 with a total of 20 teams up from 19 teams last season.

Muhorini Youth and Western Stima join the NSL after being relegated from the top tier while Kakamega Glamour Boys Green Commandos, Kangemi All Stars and Coast Stima join the FKF NSL after being promoted from the third tier FKF Division One League.

Venues that will be used for the matches are Camp Toyoyo, Hope Center, Kasarani Stadium (Nairobi); Narok Stadium; Moi Stadim (Kisumu); Bomu (subject to approval) and KPA Mbaraki (Mombasa); Sudi Stadium (Bungoma); Kipchoge Keino Stadium (Eldoret); Awendo Stadium, Muhoroni Stadium, Afraha Stadium (Nakuru) and Thika Stadium.
