‘Nigeria want to win & qualify for Nations Cup’- Garba aims Ghana scalp

Nigeria U17, Eaglets
Ahead of Saturday’s final clash with rivals junior Black Stars, the Golden Eaglets gaffer has revealed his mission in Niamey

Nigeria U17 head coach Manu Garba says his side are aiming to pip Ghana in the final of WAFU Zone B U17 tournament and qualify for next year’s U17 Africa Cup of Nations in Tanzania.

The Golden Eaglets failed to attend the 2017 edition of the competition to defend their record fifth world title in 2015 - a mistake the gaffer and his wards are seeking to avoid the repeat.

As they go up against arch-rivals junior Black Stars, the 2013 World Cup winning coach assures they will not leave any stone unturned in their quest to emerge regional champions in Niamey.

“We have concluded our preparations for the final against Ghana and are fully ready for it,” Garba told Goal.

“The team has done very well in terms of physical, technical and tactical fitness. But above all, We are focused and want to win the cup and qualify for the African U17 Cup of Nations.

“All we need is prayers from our dear country men and women and element of luck from God Almighty. I’m optimistic we have a team that can stand the test of time, but we must take every match as it comes because we intend to win every match in Niger and pick the sole ticket.

“We have come this far and won’t look back. I know so much about Ghana I’m confident we can beat them come Saturday.”
