With little movement elsewhere, bet365 now make the interim boss their Even money (2.0) favourite to take over at the Bernabeu on a permanent basis

Things have gone relatively quiet in terms of the next Real Madrid manager market.

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) rules state that Madrid's new boss must be confirmed within 15 days of Julen Lopetegui's departure or else the club faces disciplinary measures.

As such, Santiago Solari's credentials seem to improve with every passing day.

The interim boss has led Madrid to two wins since taking over and bet365 now have the 42-year-old as their Even money (2.0) favourite to be appointed permanently.

Some firms are as short as 1/5 (1.20) about the Argentine with little to suggest progress is being made with the search for an external candidate.

It may well be that such a move is only a stop-gap while Los Blancos search for their first-choice candidate but Solari being handed the reigns until the end of the season would be deemed a permanent appointment by most bookmakers.

Mauricio Pochettino is priced at 10/3 (4.33) but it's unlikely that Daniel Levy would even consider an approach from Los Blancos at this late stage even if the manager himself expressed a desire to leave.

It's 11/4 (3.75) that Roberto Martinez takes over but even if the Spaniard is a more realistic managerial option in terms of accessibility, the Belgian FA have confirmed that any approach would have to go through them.

With an international break fast approaching, it seems increasingly unlikely that such a move would be confirmed before next week's deadline.

Arsene Wenger has been linked with a move to AC Milan recently but he's 10/1 (11.0) to take the reigns at Madrid instead.

Bigger prices include 14/1 (15.0) on Antonio Conte and Leonardo Jardim and 20/1 (21.0) that Jose Mourinho makes a stunning return to Madrid.

In reality though, an appointment other than the current incumbent looks to be becoming less and less likely as the days tick on.

Unless Real are willing to risk the consequences of failing to appoint Lopetegui's successor in the next week, then it's easy to see why the bookmakers are taking no chances with Solari being the man chosen to remain at the helm.
