The 29-year-old’s season has been put to an abrupt end after he was punished for his violent conduct on Saturday

The Football Association have handed Islam Slimani a three-match ban for violent conduct in Newcastle United’s 1-0 loss to West Bromwich Albion.

The Algeria international was caught on camera when he kicked Craig Dawson in an off-field incident, though referee David Coote missed the action.

An Independent Regulatory Commission of the FA subsequently charged him for the incident and after he agreed to have committed the offence, he was suspended.

Slimani will miss the Magpies’ remaining games against Watford on Saturday, Tottenham Hotspur on May 9 and Chelsea on the 13.

“Islam Slimani will miss Newcastle United’s next three matches after he was charged with violent conduct. “ read a statement on club website.

“He accepted the charge but argued the suspension was excessive. This was rejected by an Independent Regulatory Commission.

“The forward was involved in an off-the-ball incident during Saturday’s game against West Bromwich Albion at St. James' Park.”

The former Sporting CP player joined Newcastle on loan from Leicester City in January and made only four appearances.
