Mosimane said while winning the league may be difficult for his team following a series of poor results, they will not give up just yet

Mamelodi Sundowns' disappointing run of form continued on Wednesday night as they played out to a goalless draw at home to Bloemfontein Celtic, stretching their winless run to five league games in the process.

Despite Sundowns still having several games in hand, it now seems unlikely that the Tshwane giants will defend their Premier Soccer League (PSL) crown, acoording to Pitso Mosimane.

“Tonight, I can’t be harsh on my team,” Mosimane told the media. “This is a good team. I’ve built this team, these are the African champions. These boys are South African champions. They are Super Cup champions. I can’t forget what these boys have given me in the last eight months.”

“I can’t say my boys have let me down. It’s not yet over also. We have to keep going. We might not have scored but we played well,” Mosimane expressed.

“Maybe we might not win the league, because the way it’s going, it doesn’t look so but I still believe that we can still decide it.”

“I still don’t think we will be asking for favours. Our destiny is still in our hands. We can still do it,” he said.

“The day I think it’s over, that’s when we’ll stop challenging and focus on (Caf) Champions League. Remember we are a global team,” Mosimane continued.

“It’s not over, but it’s tough times for us. But adversity tests your character. You can’t have a honeymoon all the time.”

“At one stage, I was 13 points behind Chiefs in 2013/2014. Then what happened to Chiefs? Do you remember? I get courage from that.”

“We still have three trophies to play for. We have the league, Nedbank (Cup) and Champions League. We won these in the last eight months,” he reiterated.

“I look at the games left - (Bidvest) Wits, SuperSport (United), (Orlando) Pirates. I think my team can win all these games,” Mosimane added.

“I’m yet to find a team that can go toe to toe with us. No disrespect, but everybody does a total withdrawal against us.”

“If I find a team that goes toe to toe with us, then I can give a handshake and say 'well done, we lost to a better team',” he added.

“As you can see, the only way to play against us is to do a total withdrawal. That’s the only way,” Mosimane concluded.
