Middlesbrough’s Assombalonga targets victory over Sheffield Wednesday

Britt Assombalonga is targeting a return to winning ways when Middlesbrough clash with Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough Stadium in Friday’s English Championship encounter.

The Smoggies lost their last game to Nottingham Forest at home before the international break to bring an end to their seven-game unbeaten run at Riverside Stadium.

With the loss, Tony Pulis’ men dropped to the fourth spot in the league log with 22 points from 12 games.

And the Congo DR international is hoping they can avoid a second consecutive defeat when they take on Jos Luhukay’s side.

“We don’t want to lose back-to-back so we‘ll have to respond in good manner,” Assombalonga told club website.

“Definitely your home games especially if you wanted to get promoted it has to be really good.

“Everyone was gutted that we lost the game but we just have to bounce back and take one on the road.”

Assombalonga has scored four goals in 12 league appearances and will hope to extend his tally to help Middlesbrough nick their third away win this season.
