Mathare United registered a 3-1 win over Terror Squad in a pre-season friendly played at Goan Institute Training ground on Saturday.
Lennox Ogutu, David Owino and Cliff Nyakeya were on target for Mathare United to settle the tie as Eric Kahonge scored a late consolation for the visitors.
Clifford Alwanga should have opened the scoring inside the first ten minutes but he blasted from close range after Chrsipin Oduor had picked him out with two centres.
A decent start was crowned by Ogutu’s opener from the spot after Nyakeya was appended in the box after latching onto a lovely diagonal from Francis Omondi.
Ogutu, who was partnering Johnstone Omurwa at the heart of defence, stepped forward to take the resultant penalty which he calmly converted into the bottom right corner.
Job Ochieng’ was forced to rush off his line to stop Terror Squad from grabbing an equalizer against the run of play and shortly afterwards a brilliant exchange involving Edward Seda, Oduor and John Mwangi culminated in Alwanga once again fluffing from close range.
On resumption, the diminutive Owino doubled our advantage with a fantastic drive from a 30 yard free-kick. He packed a lot of venom in his effort and the whip in it gave the visitor’s goalkeeper absolutely no chance.
