After having been linked with a return to Malaysia, former Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) head coach Mario Gomez has instead been appointed as the head coach of Indonesia's Persib Bandung.
His appointment for the 2018 Liga 1 has been announced by the club on Tuesday.
The 60-year old trainer is arguably the most successful Southern Tigers coach, having won the Super League, the AFC Cup and the FA Cup with them. He shockingly parted ways with them in early 2017, merely a week before the season was scheduled to kick off.
He was then linked with the Malaysia national team head coach position, but that did not materialise.
Persib meanwhile recently ended the 2017 Liga 1 season in 13th place, out of 18 teams.
