Liverpool duo Mane and Salah headline BBC POTY shortlist

Liverpool duo Sadio Mane and Mohamed headline the BBC African Footballer of the Year shortlist for 2017.

The shortlist also includes Liverpool bound Guinean midfielder – Rasen Ballsport Leipzig’s Naby Keita, Borussia Dortmund’s Gabonese attacker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nigerian winger turned wing-back, Victor Moses of Premier League champions Chelsea.

Mane and Aubameyang are shortlisted for the second year in succession after they lost out to Leicester City and Algeria international, Riyad Mahrez 2016.

Following a remarkable campaign with Roma in the Serie A, Salah made the switch to the Reds and continued from where he left off in Italy. So far the 25-year old has hit an impressive seven goals in 11 appearances.
 
Keita also had a sterling season, helping Leipzig to a second place finish in the Bundesliga on their maiden top-flight season. The 22-year-old netted eight league goals - among them a goal of the season contender - while also providing seven assists in 31 appearances.

Moses’ three goals and three assists in Chelsea’s league winning campaign also didn’t go unnoticed. The 25-year-old flourished –making 34 appearances, the most in his Premier League era- in his new found position under Antonio Conte.
