Mourinho: Ronaldo Man Utd return never an option


Jose Mourinho has refuted suggestions that he vetoed a move to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to Manchester United.

Reports surfaced in the build-up to United's Premier League clash with Burnley that Ronaldo was open to a return to Old Trafford in the close-season, only for Mourinho to refuse the opportunity to sign the 33-year-old.

However, speaking after United's 2-0 victory at Turf Moor, Mourinho was quick to rubbish those claims, insisting that signing Ronaldo - who he managed during his time at Real Madrid - was never an option.

Souness' Pogba transfer fee theory


Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has come under fire from Liverpool legend Graeme Souness, who has accused the World Cup winner of being “selfish” and only in the team to keep his sell-on value high.

The Red Devils have made a slow start to the Premier League season and have suffered successive defeats against Brighton and Tottenham, and Souness does not believe that the 25-year-old is pulling his weight. Indeed, he claims that Pogba would not even be in Jose Mourinho’s starting XI on merit.

Rangers to sign McAuley


Rangers are close to signing centre-back Gareth McAuley on a free transfer, Steven Gerrard has confirmed.

The 38-year-old Northern Ireland international was released from West Brom in the close season after they were relegated from the Championship.

Rangers have been working on a deal with McAuley since August and Gerrard expects to get it over the line soon.

"There is no major rush, he’s been called up by Northern Ireland, so we won’t see him for a couple of weeks. That will be the last deal," Gerrard said after his side's 1-0 defeat to Celtic on Sunday.

Perez hopes to snap up Inter defender

Real Madrid have made Milan Skriniar one of their top transfer targets for next year, Don Balon reports.

President Florentino Perez is already putting together a list of potential signings for the January and summer transfer windows and sees the Inter centre-back as an ideal candidate in case they need to replace Sergio Ramos.

As well as the 23-year-old, Madrid are also continuing with their plans to sign Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain as they search for another global star after losing Cristiano Ronaldo.

Man Utd transfer chief a 'specialist in failure'


Ed Woodward got the David Moyes treatment from Manchester United fans when they criticised the executive vice-chairman with a banner during Sunday's game against Burnley.

The Red Devils chief has been singled out as the main culprit for the Red Devils' lack of business in the transfer market.

And a group of supporters have paid for a banner to be flown over Turf Moor stadium during the game which read: "Ed Woodward a specialist in failure".

Yaya Toure lands in Greece to complete move


Yaya Toure has arrived in Greece as he looks set to join Olympiacos, Gazzetta reports.

The midfielder was photographed in Athens as his flight landed on Sunday afternoon and will watch the Greek giants PAS Giannina this evening.

The 35-year-old is a free agent following his release from Manchester City and is expected to sign a deal with Olympiacos in the coming days.

Filipe Luis denies demanding PSG move


Filipe Luis says he made no attempt to push Atletico Madrid into letting him leave for Paris Saint-Germain last month.

The full-back had been coveted by the Ligue 1 giants all summer, but ended up staying in the Spanish capital.

And he revealed that he had a brief chat with Atletico over his future, but is happy to continue with Diego Simeone's men for at least another year.

Dembele wanted by Chinese club


Chinese Super League side Beijing Sinobo Guoan want to sign Tottenham midfielder Mousa Dembele, the Sun reports.

The 31 year old has been linked with a move away from Spurs and could leave next summer on a free transfer when his contract arrives.

As a result, Mauricio Pochettino could be willing to let Dembele leave in January in order to recoup some money on the midfielder.

Ben Arfa signs for Rennes


Rennes have confirmed that they have signed attacker Hatem Ben Arfa.

The former Newcastle man was a free agent and therefore eligible to sign after the transfer deadline.

He cannot play later today against Bordeaux, but could debut against former club PSG in a fortnight.

Neymar prefers Chelsea or Arsenal move

Neymar would prefer to move to Chelsea or Arsenal rather than Manchester City if he switched to the Premier League, according to the Daily Express.

The 25 year old is a big fan of London and has visited the English capital three or four times in the past 12 months.

His contract with Paris Saint-Germain is until 2022, but there have been repeated rumours he could leave Ligue 1 before then.

The 27-year-old centre-back has committed his future to the Italian club until June 30, 2023.
