Kuala Lumpur (KL) head coach Fabio Maciel has no problem releasing the three players who have received the training camp call-up ahead of Malaysia U-23's 2018 Asian Games campaign.

When met by the press following his team's 2-1 win over Negeri Sembilan at home on Sunday, the Brazilian said he is willing to let midfielder Irfan Zakaria, defender Syazwan Andik Ishak and goalkeeper Khatul Anuar Jalil join Datuk Ong Kim Swee's squad, but the matter has to be discussed with the club board.

"I cannot defy the FAM (Malaysian FA), if all clubs have to release their junior national players, then we will release ours.

"I have to sit down with the club management, and see if all clubs release their players. But for me personally, it won't be a problem," said the former Timor-Leste manager.

The men's football event at the Asian Games will take place from August 14 to September 1, around the same time that the Malaysia Cup will be contested by Malaysian clubs, with the training camp beginning on July 30.

Rumours have surfaced that many clubs are reluctant to release the players that have received the call-up due to the cup, but JDT and PKNS FC have declared their commitment to fulfilling Kim Swee's need.

In 2017 he faced the same resistance from the clubs ahead of their AFC U-23 Championship qualifiers and SEA Games with several players held back altogether, but nevertheless managed to take the Young Tigers to the AFC finals and the SEA Games final match.
