Kaizer Chiefs player joins Richards Bay FC

The youngster, who is highly rated by the Amakhosi technical team is expected to return to the Naturena-based side at the end of the 2017/18 season

Richards Bay FC have confirmed the signing of Kaizer Chiefs striker Itumeleng Shopane.

The youngster, who was a regular in the Multichoice Diski Challenge (MDC) for Chiefs last season, has joined the newly established National First Division (NFD) side on loan from Amakhosi.

This was confirmed by the club on Friday as Chiefs prepare to take on Botswana outfit Township Rollers in a friendly match in Francistown on Saturday.

Shopane started for Amakhosi against Free State Stars in the 2017 Maize Cup final which was won by Chiefs thanks to George Lebese's late goal in Orkney last weekend.

However, Steve Komphela's side has since decided to send the 20-year-old striker to Richards Bay on a season-long loan deal ahead of the upcoming 2017/18 season.

Shopane was part of the South Africa Under-20 side that lost to their Zambian counterparts in the 2016 U20 Cosafa Cup final in Moruleng.

The marksman was then included in the Amajita squad that participated in the 2017 U20 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) finals in Zambia.

He also part of the South Africa preliminary squad for the 2017 Fifa U20 World Cup finals in South Korea, but he did not make the final squad.
