Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas has lavished praise on his players after receiving the Premier Soccer League (PSL) Coach of the Month award for the month of September.

The Italian manager was handed the accolade on Thursday after leading the Soweto giants to three consecutive PSL wins last month.

“I want to credit the club and my players for this award, they all put in the work. I am so lucky because I have outstanding players, and I repeat that the credit must go to them,” Solinas told the media.

“They have respect for this club and that is the mentality,” he continued.

Solinas took to the podium to receive his award together with star striker Khama Billiat, who was voted as the Player of the Month.

The coach has also heaped praise on the former Mamelodi Sundowns hitman, saying he can play in Europe.

“I will say only one thing about Khama, everybody wants to play in Europe, but not everybody can play there. What I want is different to I can, and Khama can play there,” concluded the manager.

Although the coach did not have a bright start in his reign at Naturena where they failed to reach the MTN8 final and suffered several PSL draws, he managed to secure his first win over Cape Town City last month.

The former Free State Stars coach led his men to a 4-1 win over the new MTN8 champions before beating Ea Lla Koto and AmaZulu in the league.

However, they were held to a 0-0 draw by Highlands Park on Tuesday night and will be hoping to return to winning ways on Saturday against Polokwane City at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

The match at the iconic 2010 Fifa World Cup venue will be staged behind closed doors after Chiefs were found guilty of misconduct as a result of spectator misbehaviour during the Nedbank Cup semi-final clash against Free State Stars last season.
