Melis Medo honored his word that Nakumatt will be playing in the 2018/19 Kenyan Premier league season.
The American tactician led the Shoppers to a two-legged victory over Ushuru after Nakumatt beat the taxmen 2-0 in the return leg played at the Kasarani. Nakumatt went into the game with a goal advantage after they won the first leg at the Camp Toyoyo last week.
Joe Waithira took the pressure off the shoulder of Nakumatt players with his first-half goal with the Elephants heading into the break with a two-goal aggregate advantage.
Waithira completed his brace to hand Nakumatt a 3-0 aggregate victory to cement their place in the league next season. Earlier on, Shabana came from a goal down to see off Mwatata United and gain promotion into the National Super League.
The match was decided by the dreaded post match penalties after both teams settled for a 1-1 draw in the normal time. Shabana had controlled proceedings for the better part of the first half but could not find a way past Mwatate, the first half ending 0-0.
Upon resumption, Shabana would fall behind courtesy of a close range strike by Mwatate forward John Musyoka. The lead changed hands in the 62nd minute when Hamisi Hade Hamzo equalized for Shabana.
Shabana would go on to seal a nervy win in the penalties, consequently booking a return to the second tier.
