Japan are not lost on the threat ahead as they prepare to face Senegal at the World Cup on Sunday.

The Samurai Blue are set to take on the Teranga Lions at Yekaterinburg's Central Stadium in Group H, five days after a hard-fought 2-1 triumph over Colombia.

Senegal have been hailed as a side to watch out for in Russia following their 2-0 opening day victory over Poland

"The individual quality the Senegal team presents are at a different level," Japan and Galatasaray full-back Yuto Nagatomo told the Japanese Football Association's official website.

"They are an African team with outstanding discipline and the team is very well organised.

"It is hard to find a hole in their line-ups and they keep a strong emphasis on their defence.

"Needless to say, their counter attacks are deadly.

"In order for us to win against Senegal, we must have more cohesiveness than we showcased in the match against Colombia.

"I have nurtured the sense and distance defending against top players of the big clubs over the years, and I will like to utilise that experience when facing the Senegal team."

Japan and Senegal have met three times at senior men's level - all friendlies.

The Samurai Blue are still chasing their first win, having lost two and drawn the other.
