ISL 2018-19: Sergio Lobera - FC Goa are facing the best team in the league

Indian Super League (ISL) leaders FC Goa take on second-placed Bengaluru FC in their eighth match of the season on Thursday at the Fatorda Stadium.

Goa have won five out of their first seven matches and are at the summit but they have played two matches more than their opponents.

Ahead of facing the Blues, Goa coach Sergio Lobera heaped praise on their opponents and also termed them as the best team in the league.

He said, “About Bengaluru, I think we are facing the best team in the league. I believe tomorrow’s (Thursday) match is a big challenge for us. We have many matches after this game so I think tomorrow’s match will determine what is going to happen in this league. But I think it is a good chance for us to get three points at home and take the advantage.”

On his start performer Ferran Corominas’ scintillating form, Lobera opined, “I think Corominas is experienced enough to handle any pressure. For him he loves to perform for the team, it is not an obligation that is why the team is doing well so well.”

The former La Masia coach believed that his team as the ability to beat Bengaluru and win the title. He said, “Regardless of the result of tomorrow we have to perform as a team which fights for the title. Tomorrow it is a good opportunity for us I think we can beat Bengaluru who are the best team in the competition.

“I think we have 12 to 13 players who can win matches but without a certain number of players, you cannot win competitions. We need all the players in the squad and as a coach, my role is to find the right moment and when to play a particular player.”
