ISL 2018-19: Who are Mumbai City FC's foreign signings

With the fifth edition of the Indian Super League (ISL) fast approaching, the 10 teams have been busy finalising their rosters. With less than a month to go for the new season to kick-off, we take a look at how the teams have shaped up with respect to their overseas signings.

Here, we take a look at the seven foreigners who will turn out for the Mumbai-based side.

Mumbai City FC foreigners

Lucian Goian

The Mumbai City FC skipper is the only foreign player who has been retained from last season. The Romanian defender will represent the Islanders for the third season in a row in the ISL this time. Last season, Goian had played 15 matches and scored two goals.

Matias Mirabaje

Mumbai City FC roped in attacking midfielder Matias Mirabaje from Delhi Dynamos. The 29-year-old Uruguayan was a key figure for Dynamos last season. He played 12 matches in the ISL where he scored three goals and provided one assist. Mirabaje is a good addition to the Mumbai City attack.

Paulo Machado

The 32-year-old Portuguese midfielder joined Mumbai City FC this season from Primeira Liga club Aves. The former FC Porto player has represented the Portuguese national team six times from 2010 to 2013.

Rafael Bastos

The Brazilian striker joined Mumbai City FC this season from Brazilian club Clube do Remo. A product of Brazilian top tier side Esporte Clube Bahia, the 33-year-old striker has ample experience of playing in Asia. He has played for top Asian clubs like Al Nassr, Al Kuwait SC and Buriram United.

Marko Klisura

Mumbai City FC signed Serbian defender Marko Klisura from Uzbekistani club Buxoro FK for the upcoming ISL season five. The 25-year-old player has represented his country just once. He played in a friendly match for Serbia against the USA in 2017.

Moudou Sougou

Senegalese winger Moudou Sougou last played for Portuguese club Moreirense. He was on loan from Sheffield Wednesday. Sougou had played for French giants Marseille in the past. He has represented Senegal 12 times and will add pace to Mumbai City's attacks in the upcoming season.

Arnold Issoko

Arnold Issoko joined the Islanders from Portuguese outfit Vitoria de Setubal. Coincidentally, Mumbai’s other foreigner Moudou Sougou has also played for the same club. The 26-year-old has been capped by DR Congo once and can play as a right-back or as a winger. Issoko brings the much-needed versatility to the Mumbai squad.
