Alexandre Guimaraes expressed his satisfaction with Mumbai City's 1-0 win against Chennaiyin FC at the Mumbai Football Arena on Sunday. In what was a game bereft of clear-cut chances, Achille Emana's 60th-minute spot-kick decided the winner.

"We knew that we have to very strong at home. We understood after the first half, the kind of game the rivals are trying to play. We adjusted some things and we deserved the win in the second half. They had chances but we had too many chances too. We are back in the tournament with this. I'm happy that we are showing that it will be difficult to get points here (Mumbai)." said Guimaraes, also stated his belief that his side deserved the win.

"We played better than them in the second half. Every game will be a battle, tonight we won the battle. I think we understood the kind of game they were trying to play. We have to be solid defensively. We have players this season who can make a difference. In the second half, players were calmer in the last third."

Indian goalkeepers have come in for a lot of criticisms in recent weeks in Indian Super League (ISL) but Guimaraes was quick to spring to the defence of his custodian Amrinder Singh, even going as far as to say that he is the best goalkeeper in India.

"Amrinder for me is the best goalkeeper in India. He showed that last season and now too. Amrinder knows he has to continue improving because there are other good goalkeepers too.
We've won earlier on a 1-0 scoreline too. The thing is that we won, of course, we had chances to score more goals but today 1-0 was enough," Guimaraes signed off.
