ATK will not make it to the top four but head coach Ashley Westwood wants his side to end the season on a good note.

In match 67 of the Indian Super League, ATK clinched a point from the clash against David James-coached Kerala Blasters as Ryan Taylor and Tom Thorpe registered their names on the scoresheet in a 2-2 result.

Speaking about the display of the Kolkata boys, head coach Ashley Westwood was glad about the goals scored by his side but believed they should have netted more as they built several opportunities on the pitch.

‘’We were organized and creating plenty of chances. We scored two but maybe we should have scored a couple more as it would have been more comfortable,’’ he commented.

Since Westwood’s appointment in the managerial role, it was the first time that ATK have bagged two goals. On Thursday evening, the Kolkata-based outfit bounced back twice in the match to seal a point. Discussing their efforts, Westwood said, ‘’We have shown good character; we’d gone behind twice. We had been on a losing streak, it would have been easy to lose heavily but we showed character with a solid performance.’’

Following the draw, ATK are now placed eighth on the points table with 13 points from 14 matches. The former Bengaluru FC gaffer believes that the team’s chances for the playoffs are all but over. However, the Englishman aims to end the season on a high.

‘’Even if we win our remaining games, we will end up at 25 points. I believe that will be not enough to reach the playoffs. We have to keep playing and finish the season strongly,’’ he concluded.
