Ahmed Hegazi has returned to West Bromwich Albion training this week, and isn’t hiding his delight at the rapid recovery that he's made since he went under the knife in July.
The towering defender was plagued by a troublesome ankle problem throughout last season, but still featured in 39 Championship games regardless.
Hegazi hasn’t played a part in Slaven Bilic’s side’s unbeaten start to the season, but it’s only a matter of time he features, given this week’s return to first-team training.
“I’m feeling all good,” Hegazi told West Brom’s website.
“I’m very happy to be back in training and the ankle is feeling fine. There is no date for a return to playing yet but we will see how I progress from here.
“I have come back a little bit quicker than was expected which is good for me. The team is doing well and we just need to keep this momentum going.”
Sunday’s visit of Huddersfield Town has probably come too soon for Hegazi, and the defender is likely to watch on from the stands at the Hawthorns this weekend.
West Brom are sixth in the table with 13 points after seven games, and will be looking to improve on their recent run that’s seen them win just once in four games.
