Medeama coach Tom StrandGoal Ghana

Hearts of Oak deny Strand approach, reaffirm faith in Wellington, says Opare

Hearts of Oak communications director Kwame Opare Addo has rejected suggestions that they are close to appointing Swedish manager Tom Strand, following the outfit’s slow start to the Ghana Premier League season.

The Phobians parted ways with Frank Elliott Nuttall two months ago on grounds of indiscipline and reassigned assistant Henry Wellington in the interim.

However, a section of the supporters want him sacked after the club managed only 15 points from 12 games and currently sit 10th on the log.

“Henry Wellington is still the head coach of Hearts. He’s being assisted by Odoom and that remains it," Opare told Joy FM

"No other decision regarding Tom Strand has been taken. We're behind the coaches and will support them to achieve success,'' he added.

Strand previously managed Bechem United, Great Olympics as well as Medeama and won the 2015 Ghana FA Cup title with the latter in 2015.
