Gyan unhappy with KP Boateng over GFA comments

The Black Stars captain says the Las Palmas midfielder was wrong to use social media to attack Ghana FA after Afcon disappointment

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan insists Kevin-Prince Boateng was wrong to launch a scathing attack on Ghana Football Association last week.

Gyan claims the former AC Milan and Schalke 04 man never sacrificed for the nation during his time with the national team.

Boateng, who has been suspended indefinitely following his troubles at the 2014 Fifa World Cup, took a swipe at the football association following the Black Stars' disappointing showing at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

Ghana were knocked out by Cameroon in the semi-finals, eventually finishing fourth after losing the third-place playoff to Burkina Faso.

“He has betrayed his own colleagues with that tweet,” Gyan told Angel FM.

“He might be right in a way but I was expecting someone outside the team to come out with these comments and not Kevin-Prince Boateng.

“I respect Kevin so much for the kind of player he is, but that comment he made surprised and amazed me. I was not expecting that from him.

“Ghana deserves better and we the players know that, however, from what I have seen in my career as a footballer, Kevin has never sacrificed for Ghana at the national team level. I leave his comment for journalists to talk about,” he added.

Gyan is Ghana's all-time most capped player and topscorer after making 101 appearances and scoring 49 goals since making his debut in 2003 against Somalia.
