Mwinyi Zahera has reportedly agreed a one year deal to become Yanga Head coach. The 46-year-old is currently in charge of the DR Congo National Football Team as assistant coach and will replace the departed George Lwandamina.

Sources close to the club have revealed that negotiations with the former DC Motema Pembe manager have been a recommencement of discussions that were curtailed in 2016.

Having qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup group stage, Yanga is under caretaker coaches Noel Mwandila and Shadrack Nsajigwa who have led the club in recent matches both domestic and internationally following the sudden departure of Lwandamina early this month.

Zahera was part of the backroom staff which landed in the country on February with the DR Congo national team under the management of Florent Ibenge for a friendly match against Tanzania.

The Congolese has emerged as the leading candidate to take over Yanga after early reports had suggested that the Jangwani based club were looking for a reunion with their former Head Coach Hans van der Pluijm who is currently with Singida United.

Mbao FC’s Etienne Ndayiragije was another coach to be mentioned as a possible replacement for Lwandamina.
