The Ghanaian says his ambition to play in England has not changed despite some setbacks

Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris has not given up hopes of playing in England after some failed attempts.

The 27-year-old, who is currently on the books of French club Nantes on loan from Portuguese giants Porto, was linked to Everton and Newcastle United during the summer transfer window.

Last year, he came close to sealing a move to one of West Ham United and Burnley but the transfer was derailed by work permit challenges.

"I am always going to be a big fan of the Premier League and the Championship," Waris told Getfootballnewsfrance.

"I like the way that football is played there, so definitely [my goal remains to end up in England].

"It is something that I will continue to watch.

"Even though the French league is one of the top leagues in Europe, every year it is getting very competitive.

"This year is crazy. I really, really like the French league."

Waris also spoke about the possibility of extending his stay at Nantes when his loan expires at the end of the season.

"At the moment I am just here on loan with Nantes," said, the forward.

"The people are nice, the fans are very good and I am very happy here. I want to have a very successful season with this club.

"With the stature of the club, they are really very good. I want to achieve something great with them.

"Even if I am not here in the future, I will know that I achieved something great. Maybe I can also be remembered one day."

The striker has made nine Ligue 1 appearances involving six starts for The Canaries so far this campaign.
