Ghana Football Association president Kwesi Nyantakyi has admitted that he is worried about the delay facing the 2017-18 Ghana Premier League season.
The top-flight, which was initially scheduled to begin in February, has been hit with two court injunctions from Great Olympics, bringing all plans to a standstill.
The Wonder Club are challenging the GFA disciplinary and appeals committee’ s ruling of their cases against Elmina Sharks and Bechem United in court and a verdict in their favour could see them replacing one of the two clubs.
“I am worried about our inability to start the Ghana Premier League just like other club administrators,” Nyantakyi said.
“I am a club owner as well and just like others, we are paying salaries of coaches and players and without the league starting, it has been frustrating and very difficult for us.
“We will be going to court on Thursday and if the ruling goes in our favour, the league will start immediately,” he added.
According to Goal's sources, the top-flight will kick off on Sunday if Justice Anthony Yeboah rules the case in favour of Ghana FA, since appointment of referees for all the eight fixtures have been done.
Moreover, the association met television right holders StarTimes on Tuesday and five league centres out of sixteen, including Len Clay (Obuasi), Baba Yara (Kumasi), Cape Coast, Nana Agyeman Badu (Dormaa Ahenkro) and Nduom Sports Stadium (Elmina) have been accepted for live broadcast of games.
