Genk’s Mbwana Samatta fires Eupen warning with Tanzania goal

Mbwana Samatta has declared his readiness for Genk’s Belgian top-flight meeting against Eupen with a goal in Tanzania’s 2-0 victory over Cape Verde.

After their disappointing 3-0 loss to the Islanders in the first leg of their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers four days ago, the Taifa Stars gave an improved performance in Dar-es-Salaam on Tuesday.

Simon Msuwa gave the hosts a perfect start at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium with the opener in the 29th minute.

Later in the second half, Samatta rifled in a shot from inside the penalty area to double his side’s lead in the 58th minute and also hand former Nigeria youth coach Emmanuel Amuneke his first victory since his appointment in August.

The forward who has scored seven goals in nine Belgian First Division A matches this season will hope to maintain the goalscoring form as Genk aim to extend their unbeaten run in the league when they welcome Eupen to the Luminus Arena on Saturday.

Tanzania sit second in Group L with five points from four games - two points behind leaders Uganda.
