‘France win is for Africa’ – Nigerians thrilled by Les Bleus’ progress at the World Cup

France booked a place in the last-four of the 2018 Fifa World Cup after defeating Uruguay 2-0 on Friday.

Raphael Varane’s header before the interval gave the European nation an early lead before Antoine Griezmann’s shot in the second half sealed the win.

France who won the World Cup in 1998 are on course to win the biggest football prize for the second time in their history.

But Nigerians are happy with the victory at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium as a revenge for Uruguay’s 4-2 penalty shoot-out win over Ghana in South Africa 2010 and for Egypt's 1-0 defeat during the group stage in this year's edition.
