Former AFC Leopards keeper set for new deal in Zimbabwe

Former AFC Leopards custodian Ian Otieno is interesting top Zimbabwe club FC Platinum, Goal understands.

The 24-year old keeper is currently a free agent, having opted not to renew his contract at The Den which expired in December.

He could now be headed to Zimbabwe with Platinum reportedly eager to secure his signature as a back-up keeper ahead of their participation in the Caf Champions League in 2018.

“I can tell you the player also has offers from Sofapaka where he has been training and is waiting to hear from a Zambian club," a source privy to the discussions told Goal.

Platinum, who are the reigning league champions, are best remembered for eliminating Sofapaka from the Confederation Cup in 2015. Should the move materialise, the player could be the first Kenyan in recent times to move to Zimbabwe.

Otieno has previously featured for Posta Rangers in the top league.
