A change in scenery for the Blue Colts who will now play their matches at the capital...

India's matches in the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017 will be played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi instead of the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai as had initially been planned.

Despite the groups not yet being announced, it is a common sentiment that being the hosts India would get potted in Group A, but the matches for Group A are marked for Navi Mumbai.

However, an intervention by the Sports Ministry has meant that the All India Football Federation (AIFF) has now sent a request to FIFA to shift the host nation's matches to the capital.

Why Marc Overmars is the wrong man for Arsenal?

"Initially, we had decided to play the matches at the D Y Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai but later changed our plan as the sports ministry too favoured Delhi as the venue," stated the AIFF general secretary Kushal Das, to The Telegraph.

Delhi will also host two round-of-16 matches in addition to India's group stage matches it is hosting. There have been no games allocated to Delhi post-Diwali due to the pollution concerns in the national capital.
