The Red Giants are set to face Pahang in the Malaysian FA Cup final this Saturday, July 7, their first FA Cup final since 2009.

Goal recaps the four ties that Nazliazmi's men had to go through en route to reaching the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.

vs MOF FC (KLFA Stadium, March 4)

The Red Giants faced third-tier side MOF FC in the second round, the stage they joined in as one of top-tier sides. Although they played at their designated home ground this season, MOF were the hosts of the encounter. And they were made to work hard by the underdogs; only in the 71st minute were they able to break the deadlock through Amri Yahyah's goal. Rufino Segovia and Syahmi Safari's goal each then secured the five-time champions a 3-0 win. Sadly, it was to be their last cup match under head coach Maniam Pachaiappan, who over a week later would be relieved of his coaching duties by the club for a string of poor performances.

vs Terengganu FC (Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium, March 16)

Maniam's departure came just days before they had to travel to Kuala Terengganu to play the in-form favourites Terengganu FC in the third round, on the back of three back-to-back defeats. Assistant head coach Nazliazmi were tasked with the duty of caretaker coach, and he gave a good account of himself in the tough clash. The visitors went behind in the 25th minute, but responded immediately through Rufino's equaliser just two minutes later. Evan Dimas Darmono then struck from outside to give them an unlikely lead, before Rufino scored from the spot, to give them a famous 3-1 win at a venue they have rarely won. Early in April, Nazliazmi would be appointed as the Red Giants' permanent boss.

vs Kuala Lumpur (KLFA Stadium, April 7 & 21)

In the two-legged quarter-finals they were drawn against Klang Valley rivals Kuala Lumpur (KL), and proved that they have earned their reputation as tie favourites, racing to a 3-0 win in the fiery first leg match. However, things almost turned south for them in the second leg, as they meekly surrendered their three-goal lead. But they did barely enough to avoid conceding more, to take the tie to penalties. In the penalty shootout, custodian Khairul Azhan Khalid proved to be the more capable goalkeeper, to help the Red Giants win the penalties 8-7.

vs PKNS FC (June 23 & 30)

Having edged Klang Valley rivals KL in the quarter-finals, Selangor again did not need to travel far for their away game, when they faced state rivals PKNS FC in the semis. They thumped the Red Ants 4-0 in the first leg at home, but this time they learned their lesson. In the second leg at the Shah Alam Stadium Nazliazmi fielded their best available players, and held the hosts to a 1-1 draw. With the 5-1 aggregate win, Selangor are in the FA Cup final for the seventh time.
