EXTRA TIME: Safa president Dr Jordaan gives Bafana Bafana a pep talk

Bafana Bafana will go into Saturday's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier agaiinst Nigeria in Uyo knowing that they have the backing of the entire nation and that of South African Football Association (Safa) president Dr Danny Jordaan.

The encounter will mark a new era for the South African national team, with the association having finally replaced Shakes Mashaba with Stuart Baxter, who will be in charge of his first match for Bafana since returning to the hot seat at the beginning of May.

Jordaan wished the players well for their clash with the Super Eagles, but most importantly, he emphasized the importance of returning home with at least a result.

The players surely needed the motivation from the Safa boss, given the fact that history is against them going into this important clash.

It is worth noting that Bafana have never beaten the Nigerians in officials matches, and the contest will no doubt be a tricky test for Baxter and his charges.

However, they can draw positives from the fact that Baxter knows how to beat the Super Eagles, having done so with Bafana in an international friendly 13 years ago.
