Emotional Bony delighted to get West Bromich Albion matchwinner

The 29-year-old scored an all-important goal to help the Swans to their first victory in nine games and he is delighted with his timely contribution

Wilfried Bony is excited to score the solitary goal in Swansea City’s 1-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion in Saturday’s English Premier League game.

The Cote d'Ivoire international drilled home nine minutes from time to secure the maximum points for Paul Clement’s side to lift them off the bottom of the log.

And the talisman who has been impeded by injury and loss of form since he rejoined the Liberty Stadium outfit from Manchester City this summer has revealed efforts made to rediscover his form which seems to be paying off after scoring two goals in as many games.

“It was emotional to get the goal and score once again at the Liberty Stadium,” Bony told club website.

“I am working very hard to be back to my best. Only games will help me do that, and I am glad to have played some games now.

“I am working hard off the pitch and I hope I can deliver what I used to deliver at the Liberty Stadium.”

“It was a very important game for us – we needed to win.

“We have been playing better in the last few games but have not got the results. Today it was important that we got something in front of our fans.

“Three points was all we wanted for them. We didn’t give up. We were always pushing for the result and we knew the goal was coming.”

Ahead of Swansea's clash with his former club Manchester City on Wednesday, the forward is certain that the win against West Brom will boost their confidence.

“This win will help our confidence grow,” he continued.

“We have a very important but difficult game against Manchester City which we must be ready for.

“As a team we knew how important the West Brom game was. Now we must keep fighting and do everything we can to get out of the position we are in.”
