Manchester City lift Carabao Cup
The Premier League champions lifted the trophy for the second time in three years last season and the latest odds suggest they will repeat the trick

Manchester City are the favourites to lift the EFL Cup for the second year in a row ahead of this week’s fourth round clashes.

No team since Manchester United in 2010 has managed to defend the trophy but bet365 make City 9/4 (4.25) to win the tournament for the third time in four years.

Pep Guardiola’s men brushed Oxford United aside 3-0 in the third round and are just 1/10 (1.10) to see off Fulham on Thursday night.

A late Eden Hazard winner at Anfield kept Chelsea in the competition and the Blues are 4/1 (5.0) to win the first piece of silverware on offer this season ahead of their clash with Derby.

That fixture marks a return to Stamford Bridge for Rams manager Frank Lampard, who led the midlands club to a stunning 2-1 victory at Old Trafford in the third round.

Unsurprisingly, Derby are 8/1 (9.0) to win that match and 75/1 (76.0) to win the competition for the first time in their history.

Arsenal have only lifted the EFL Cup twice in their history, despite reaching the final eight times including last season, and are 5/1 (6.0) to make it three. They are just 1/8 (1.12) to beat Blackpool at home on Wednesday.

North London rivals Tottenham can be backed at 6/1 (7.0) but face a tough trip to West Ham, who are priced at 20/1 (21.0) in the outright market by bet365, just ahead of Leicester at 16/1 (17.0).

The Foxes host 25/1 (26.0) Southampton on Tuesday night, with Bournemouth (33/1) and Fulham (66/1) rounding out the remaining Premier League clubs.

One lower league club is guaranteed to make it to the fifth round though, as 500/1 (501.0) Burton Albion host 100/1 (101.0) Nottingham Forest, with the latter 23/20 (2.15) to win that clash.
